Everything you need to know before getting started.
Whether you are considering therapy or psychological testing, you will find answers to many of the questions people commonly ask before reaching out.
Choosing the Right Service
Guidance to help you determine which service may be right for you.
Therapy and psychological testing serve different purposes. Therapy focuses on helping you navigate emotional, behavioral, and life challenges over time. Psychological testing is a comprehensive evaluation designed to answer specific diagnostic, cognitive, or personality-related questions. If you’re unsure which service is most appropriate, we’ll discuss your concerns during your consultation and determine the best place to begin.
Absolutely. Many people aren’t sure whether therapy, psychological testing, or another service is the right fit. A consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and receive guidance before making a decision.
Bahali Psychology combines clinical expertise with a thoughtful, individualized approach to care. Every recommendation begins with understanding your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all model, treatment and assessment are tailored to your specific needs using evidence-based practices delivered with warmth and collaboration.
General Questions
Essential information about the practice and what to expect.
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll discuss what brought you in, explore your concerns and goals, review relevant history, and determine the most appropriate path forward together. You’ll also have time to ask questions about the process and what to expect moving forward.
An initial 15-minute consultation considers whether there appears to be a reasonable fit to proceed. It is not a clinical evaluation or acceptance into treatment. When appropriate, the practice may use administrative review instead. The 90-minute Intake Evaluation is where treatment appropriateness and care planning are considered.
Bahali Psychology provides psychological services for adults across the lifespan, including older adults, caregivers, new and expecting parents, and individuals seeking therapy or comprehensive psychological assessment. Care is individualized to your unique experiences, goals, and circumstances.
Yes. Depending on the type of service you are seeking and applicable licensing requirements, appointments may be available in person or through a secure HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
Adult Therapy
What to expect from therapy and the concerns we commonly address.
Adults seek therapy for many different reasons. Common concerns include anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, trauma, caregiver stress, self-esteem, and navigating significant personal or professional changes. Treatment is always individualized to your unique goals and circumstances.
Not at all. Many people begin therapy because they want to understand themselves better, strengthen relationships, improve coping skills, or navigate life changes before problems become overwhelming. Therapy can be valuable whether you’re experiencing significant distress or simply seeking personal growth.
Treatment is tailored to your individual needs and may incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), mindfulness-based interventions, and other scientifically supported approaches. Therapy is collaborative, flexible, and guided by your goals.
Therapy is an ongoing collaborative process. Throughout treatment, we’ll regularly review your progress, reassess your goals, and discuss how you’re applying what you’ve learned outside of sessions. Together we’ll determine when you’ve reached a place where you feel confident moving forward independently.
Psychological Testing
What to expect from psychological testing and the evaluation process.
Psychological testing is a comprehensive evaluation that combines clinical interviews, standardized assessments, and professional interpretation to better understand cognitive, emotional, behavioral, or personality functioning. The goal is to provide meaningful clarity that informs diagnosis, treatment planning, educational recommendations, or medical care.
You can request an assessment if you are seeking greater clarity about cognitive, emotional or behavioral concerns. The practice reviews the inquiry and determines whether assessment may be appropriate, then explains the scope, sequence and fee before authorizing scheduling. You do not need to select a testing protocol yourself.
Depending on your needs, evaluations may include comprehensive psychological assessments, adult diagnostic evaluations, cognitive and memory assessments, attention and executive functioning evaluations, personality assessment, and capacity evaluations. Every evaluation is tailored to the specific referral question.
Assessment duration varies with the question being addressed. The practice determines the appropriate appointments, testing approach and sequence after preliminary review, and explains fees and preparation before scheduling is authorized.
Yes. Following your evaluation, you’ll receive a comprehensive written report that explains the findings, diagnostic impressions when appropriate, and individualized recommendations. We’ll also review the results together to ensure you understand them and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Geropsychology
Care for the emotional, cognitive, and psychological needs of older adults.
Geropsychology is the specialty area of psychology focused on the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral health of older adults. Services may include psychotherapy, cognitive evaluations, adjustment to aging, caregiver support, and assistance navigating age-related life transitions.
If you or a loved one has noticed changes in memory, attention, language, decision-making, or daily functioning, a cognitive evaluation may help determine whether those changes are consistent with typical aging or suggest another underlying condition. Early evaluation often provides greater clarity and helps guide future planning.
Yes. With your permission, family members can often provide valuable information about observed changes and daily functioning. When appropriate, they may also participate in portions of the evaluation or feedback session to support understanding and future care planning.
Pregnancy & Postpartum Care
Practical information about fees, payment, scheduling, and becoming a client.
No. Many parents seek therapy for pregnancy anxiety, birth trauma, postpartum anxiety, adjustment to parenthood, fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, caregiver stress, or simply navigating the emotional changes that accompany becoming a parent. Therapy is available whenever additional support would be helpful.

Absolutely. Becoming a parent is one of life’s most significant transitions. Therapy can help you manage stress, develop effective coping strategies, strengthen confidence in your parenting, and care for your own emotional well-being while caring for your family.
Insurance, Payment & Scheduling
Practical information about becoming a client.
Bahali Psychology is a self-pay practice and does not accept or bill insurance directly. A superbill can be provided for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement depend on your insurance plan and are not guaranteed; contact your insurer about your benefits.
Fees depend on the service and, for assessments, the scope of the evaluation. The service, fee and self-pay terms are explained before you elect to proceed and the practice authorizes a paid clinical appointment. Ask the practice for current fees and a Good Faith Estimate.
A limited number of reduced-fee appointments may be available based on financial need and availability. If this is something you’d like to discuss, please let us know during your consultation.
For therapy, contact Bahali Psychology to arrange an initial 15-minute consultation. For psychological testing, contact the practice to request an assessment. The practice reviews the appropriate next step, explains fees and authorizes clinical scheduling. A consultation or administrative review comes before the 90-minute intake. Booking an appointment does not itself establish treatment.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to the full session fee unless there are extenuating circumstances. We understand that unexpected situations arise and will discuss any concerns with you directly.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, although recommendations vary based on your goals and needs. As treatment progresses, we’ll regularly evaluate your progress and determine together whether adjustments to the schedule would be beneficial.
I personally review every inquiry and typically respond within one business day. If you contact the practice outside of regular business hours, I’ll respond as soon as possible on the next business day.
